Description

Richmond is one of British Columbia’s great birding capitals—an island city studded with unique, easy-access spotting opportunities. The city is also located along the Pacific Flyway, a major migratory route for many birds. Lead by James Casey from Bird Studies Canada, enjoy a 4-hour excursion on two wheels while spotting common and interesting birds.

We will meet at Aberdeen Station at 10:00am before biking to Terra Nova Rural Park to view an array of birds. We will stop en route for lunch, and will conclude our FAM at around 1:45pm.

You must know how to ride a bike and be comfortable with cycling for more than 12km (we will stop along the way) in order to fully enjoy this experience.

Itinerary:

10:00am - Meet at Aberdeen Canada Line station, head to Middle Arm Dyke trail and hop on a U-bicycle

10:30am - Stop at the Richmond Olympic Oval for a quick break (10 minutes)

10:40am - Cycle to Terra Nova Rural Park

11:10am - Experience birding at Terra Nova Rural Park, as lead by James

12:10pm - Enjoy a picnic lunch together

1:10pm - Cycle back towards Aberdeen Canada Line station

1:40 - 1:45pm - Arrive at Aberdeen station. Tour ends.

Itinerary subject to change.
